New polymer laser lenses from Honeywell

New polymer laser lenses from Honeywell offer true colour visibility

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) has today launched a new generation of grey polymer laser lenses for safety eyewear. The new lenses, which are available with Honeywell’s XC and Encore frame styles, incorporate innovative filter technology to provide unparalleled infrared protection, comfort and optimal colour vision. Workers across the medical, industrial and scientific sectors can now benefit from the lightweight and comfortable design associated with polymer lenses, combined with the clear vision provided by glass ones.
“Until now, those working with infrared laser applications basically had two choices of safety eyewear lenses made from either green polymer or clear glass,” said Catherine Gappenach, laser products manager, Honeywell Industrial Safety EMEA. “Wires, warning lights and veins cannot be seen in their true colours through green lenses, yet glass lenses are often heavy and uncomfortable. Honeywell’s new grey polymer lenses provide workers with neutral colour vision making it easier for them to do their job and resulting in increased user acceptance.”
The lightweight design of Honeywell’s new polymer lenses’ also means they are a lot more comfortable than heavier glass lenses and so can be worn for longer periods. They are also available for wearers of prescription spectacles.
Certified to EN 207 and EN 208 standards and CE marked, the new lenses meet the EN 172 requirements for recognition of signal lights which comprises visual attenuation quotients for red, yellow, green and blue signal lights.
