Continuous mass flow measurement of limestone

Exact measurement of flow rates with SolidFlow 2.0

At a limestone manufacturing site, limestone is mined in a quarry and afterwards ground and transported to a silo. The material is transported into the silo via a pneumatic line.
The quantity of limestone was determined on the basis of the theoretical data provided by the plant operator’s employees, however, the objective was to measure the material flow rate continuously.

Process data
Customer: Limestone manufacturer
Material: Limestone
Flow rate: Approx. 15 t/h
Installation: Pneumatic line
Function: Exact measurement of flow rate

Solution

SolidFlow 2.0 is specially designed for mass flow measurement of solids conveyed in pipes. It continuously measures solids quantities of up to 20 t/h in free fall and in pneumatic applications and has an active roping compensation.
This allows measurement errors that occur due to roping to be compensated.
In the described application SolidFlow 2.0 is used in the pneumatic transport line.
The sensor can be calibrated and transmits the exact measurement data to the control system.
Ease of installation together with simple calibration features, the SolidFlow 2.0 is proven as an extremely effective mass flow measurement system for bulk solids.

Customer benefits

  • robust, durable, process-safe sensor technology
  • simple, fast calibration
  • detailed verification of the flow rates
  • non-intrusive installation

Mass flow measurement of EPS granules with MaxxFlow HTC
Polystyrene sheets production In the production of polystyrene sheets the EPS granules (polystyrene granules) are delivered in pressurized containers. The material is then transported into silos with a capacity of 28 tons. The filling and removal takes place via a disc conveyor. So far, the quantity was determined by the level measurement in the silo. Our customer was now looking for an optimized quantity measurement with the latest technology. Process data Customer: Manufacturer of Styrofoam sheets (Germany) Material: EPS granules Quantity: 390 kg/min Installation: Pipe after disc conveyor Function: Exact measurement of flow rate Solution MaxxFlow HTC is a sensor for bulk solids volume measurement. It is used after mechanical conveying elements. The MaxxFlow HTC sensor can be calibrated and transmits the exact measured data to the control system. It can be mounted in free fall sections or in diagonal lines. Short installation space required and easy calibration makes

Quicklime mass flow measurement in lime plant Replacement of baffle plates with MaxxFlow
Quicklime mass flow measurement in lime plant
Replacement of baffle plates with MaxxFlow In a lime plant in Poland there was a request to measure the amount of extracted lime in free fall after an air slide, integrating the flow of two installation points. Our customer had previously used impact plates, however this solution was not optimal and it always led to problems with mechanical components such as caking on the baffle, mechanical wear, dust, etc. As a result, there were frequent downtimes of the plant due to maintenance work. Process data Customer: Lime plant (Poland) Material: Quicklime Quantity: 50 t/h Installation: Free fall after air slide Process temperature: 80 °C Function: Mass flow measurement of quicklime Solution The MaxxFlow HTC sensor was specially designed to replace baffle plates in the process. It is used to measure the volume of bulk materials after mechanical conveyor systems. In the application described above, the sensor offers numerous advantages for our customers compared to the baffle plate: In

Calculation of wheat requirements with flow measurement Mass flow measurement with SolidFlow 2.0
Calculation of wheat requirements with flow measurement
Mass flow measurement with SolidFlow 2.0 In a food production company in Hongkong, different types of baked goods like bread or biscuits are produced. In the plant, wheat is transported from a main silo to smaller production containers for further processing. The material is transported to the rotary valve by means of a pneumatic conveying line (DN 100) into the container. The objective of our customer was to obtain detailed information about the material flow in the conveying pipe between the main wheat silo and the smaller production container. Process data: Customer: Food producer (Hongkong) Material: Wheat Quantity: 5 t/h Installation: Pneumatic conveying line after rotary valve Function: Measurement of actual wheat consumption Solution: For monitoring and measuring the actual wheat consumption two SolidFlow 2.0 sensors have been installed. The SolidFlow 2.0 continuously measures solid quantities up to 20 t/h in free fall or in pneumatics. In this application, the sensors are installed

Contactless flow measurement in building materials industry Elimination of material build ups and pollution
Contactless flow measurement in building materials industry
Elimination of material build ups and pollution Application A manufacturer of building materials producing drywall products. The production process uses clay, which is fed by a screw conveyor from a silo onto a conveyor belt. Between the two conveying devices the material quantity requires to be measured. This was performed by an Impact Flowmeter. Using the Impact Flowmeter the clay caused contamination and material build up. Our client contacted SWR to offer a solution to eliminate the current problems and also being able to increase the throughput. The system had to be able to be maintenance free over a long period. Process data Customer: Building materials industry (Germany) Product: Clay Volume: 650 kg - 3 t/h Installation location: Freefall after screw conveyor Function: Contactless measuring in freefall, replacement of an Impact Flowmeter Solution The MaxxFlow HTC is a non-contact flowmeter capable of measuring high flow rates of dry bulk solids from the discharge

Mass flow measurement with SolidFlow 2.0 Production of montan wax
Mass flow measurement with SolidFlow 2.0
Production of montan wax Application In an opencast mine, brown coal with a very high content of wax is mined. From this coal, raw montan wax is obtained in different process steps. Therefore, the coal is crushed, dried and impinged with an environmentally friendly solvent to separate the wax from the coal. The acquired montan wax is transported into an evaporation system, where it evaporizes in several stages. After that it is transported via pumps to spray towers, where wax balls (wax granulates) are produced. At the outlet of the spray towers the granulate falls through a down-stream sieve into a pipe. Our customer’s aim was to determine the quantity of the obtained material continuously. Process data Costumer: Romonta, Amsdorf (Germany) Product: Montan wax, granulate Quantity: 6 t/h Installation place: Pipe after spray towers Function: Measurement in freefall after silo Solution The SolidFlow 2.0 has been specially developed for measuring solid volumes,
