Filters may burn or even explode because of sparks within exhaust ducts. GreCon Spark Extinguishing Systems are designed to prevent this. They detect small sparks within the ducts and extinguish them in a split second. Spark sensors detect the infrared radiation of glowing particles. Immediately, a dense water mist spray which extinguishes passing sparks is created in a specified distance downstream from the spark sensors. The production process can continue without interruption during the whole procedure.

Spark extinguishing systems are amongst the most efficient fire protection systems as a result of their highly-developed technique and their reliability. The use of these systems for various applications is even prescribed by the employer`s liability insurance associations and by national factory inspectorates.

Smart Fire Protection for productivity increase and quality assurance
Preventive fire protection systems integrated into process control perform tasks for ensuring product quality in addition to working as an early warning system today thanks to smart sensors and their smart networking. A contribution to productivity increase and quality assurance The digitalisation growth of the last few months opens up new options for designing many different processes more efficiently in integrated preventive fire protection of industrial production systems as well. Preventive fire protection systems integrated into process control perform tasks for ensuring product quality in addition to working as an early warning system today thanks to smart sensors and their smart networking. Direct data exchange with production control not only permits process visualisations, but also control and regulation processes. This increased connectivity is the most important building block in order to predictively plan maintenance tasks with the help of data analyses in fire protection facilities and to increase the usage duration of components at consistently high plant safety in future as well. Additionally, the risk of unplanned downtimes reduces and productivity increases.

GreCon IEM intelligent automatic extinguishing system
The new intelligent automatic extinguishing system GreCon IEM makes existing spark extinguishing systems from Fagus-GreCon even more intelligent and reliable Sensor technology integrated into the automatic extinguishing system improves the operational safety of the systems through integrated early wear detection. Automatic early wear detection The smallest leaks are automatically detected and reported to the control centre. The system operator is proactively informed about the upcoming replacement of wear parts and can systematically plan the replacement. If temperatures approach the freezing point, the integrated temperature monitoring activates the heating cartridge and thus ensures the smooth operation of the system even in outdoor areas. The risk of unplanned downtimes is reduced and system availability increases. Maintenance based on wear data Advances in sensor technology also allow maintenance intervals to be individually determined on the basis of wear data. These dynamic maintenance intervals not only extend the maintenance intervals in the context of predictive maintenance, but also increase the service

Hot Problem Solved GreCon fire protection concept sees to safe beet chip drying at Nordzucker
Hot Problem Solved
GreCon fire protection concept sees to safe beet chip drying at Nordzucker When drying beet chips, a by-product of the sugar production that is popular as animal feed, fire can easily occur in the dryer drums and the downstream transport ducts. Due to very high drying temperatures of about 600 degrees, glowing particles can occur even in the area of humid chips. If these glowing particles reach the dried material at the dryer outlet, they can result in big glowing embers. If ignition sources reach the downstream transport or exhaust ducts, fire can spread out in large parts of the dry chip processing and destroy, at worst, complete production plants. Although spark detection and temperature monitoring have been standard in these plant areas for many years, an automatic extinguishment has, however, been missing in the entire industry. This insufficient safety equipment has been a very unsatisfactory situation for Europe`s second largest sugar manufacturer, Nordzucker AG, for a long time and led to cases of damage and production interruptions

GreCon-Press Release POWTECH 2008
GreCon-Press Release POWTECH 2008
Spark extinguishing systems have been an integral part of security concepts of preventive fire and explosion protection in the various industrial processes. The task of this technology is to detect the smallest ignition source such as sparks and glowing particles in time and to extinguish them safety by local limited extinguishing measures before these sparks and glowing particles could damage machinery or other equipment. Especially in pneumatic transport ducts is this a thousand fold proven technology to protect filter systems, silos or bins against fires or explosions. Gladly GreCon will show you during the POWTECH how simply it will be possible to protect your plant as well. If a spark will be detected a fine extinguishing efficient water mist spray will be inserted in the corresponding exhaust ducts for an adjustable extinguishing time to safety extinguish the sparks. This will certainly prevent that the spark can be the fire or explosion reason in the filter,

GreCon Spark Detection and Extinguishment System ... reliably prevents fire in dryers, filters and silos
GreCon Spark Detection and Extinguishment System
... reliably prevents fire in dryers, filters and silos The occurrence of glowing or hot particles cannot be completely excluded from many processes. If ignition sources are transported into filters and silos via the extraction system or other conveying facilities, devastating fires and explosions can be triggered. By means of infrared sensors and downstream extinguishing nozzles, the ignition sources in mechanical and pneumatic conveying systems are reliably detected and extinguished before they reach plant areas at risk. For those applications in which water extinguishment is not possible or reasonable, GreCon developed special fire traps or diversion gates, which prevent the damaging effects of the ignition sources as quickly as the water extinguishment. Not only has the technical implementation of the principle “extinguish sparks before fire occurs” been permanently improved and optimised until now. A high level has been reached especially regarding the operation of the system and the documentation of alarms and
